The Chinese Society of Radiation Oncology (CSRO) meeting on Medical Physics has been planned and organized by the Radiation Physics Committee for more than a year.  It is supported by many medical physicists and radiation oncologists from all parts of China. The World Congress 2006 (WC2006) will take place in Korea from August 27 to September 1, 2006, and is organized by the International Organization of Medical Physics.  The AAPM Asian Oceanic Affairs Subcommittee and the Chinese Society of Medical Physics (CSMP) have been involved in the planning of the World Congress.  In the process of planning the WC2006 Satellite meeting, this joint meeting was conceived.  For the first time in Hangzhou, the participants of the World Congress will have the opportunity of meeting with the medical physicists, radiation oncologists and radiologists from China.

The International Congress on Medical Physics (Congress) will hold parallel sessions organized by the CSRO as well as by the CSMP during the 4-day meeting. Medical physicists of various disciplines are expected to participate in the Congress, and radiation oncologists who would like to focus on radiotherapy will be able to attend the same sessions as originally planned.  Because of the participation of both Chinese and international radiology professionals, the scientific content and quality of scientific exchanges will be greatly enhanced. The recent advances in IGRT and IMRT demand the involvements of imaging physicists.  This type of joint conferences will be particularly welcome.

The North American Chinese Medical Physicists Association (NACMPA) has been involved with several medical physics meetings and workshops in China and elsewhere in Asia. It has also supported many Partners-in-Physics of the AAPM PIP program in China.  The experience and resources of NACMPA will assure the success of this joint meeting.

We hope we will see you in Hangzhou.
